An Interview With Pablo Velásquez, CEO At BetterWay Devs

Below is our recent interview with Pablo Velásquez, CEO at BetterWay Devs:

Q: Could you provide our readers with a brief introduction to your company?

A: BetterWay Devs is a nearshore IT staffing and recruiting company based in Miami, Florida. We have more than 17 years of experience working with international software teams, and for the last five years we’ve focused specifically on nearshore IT staffing and recruiting. We work with clients two ways: dedicated staffing, where a developer joins their team long-term, and contingent, full-cycle recruiting, where we source and validate candidates for a role the client hires directly, and only get paid on a successful placement. Our footprint differs slightly between the two: recruitment reaches across the Americas, with a strong focus on Latin America, while staffing is exclusively Latin American talent, in countries like Colombia, Brazil, Argentina, and Mexico, among others. Either way, our job is the same: help companies build reliable engineering teams in a way that’s transparent for both the client and the developer.

Q: What makes you the best choice? How are you unique?

A: What sets us apart is that we don’t treat this as a one-time transaction, whether it’s a staffing placement or a contingent search. A lot of firms in this space are built to fill a seat quickly and move on; we’re built around what happens after that placement, which is why our relationships tend to last for years rather than months. We’re transparent with both sides about compensation, engagement structure, and expectations, and that transparency is what builds trust. It’s also what lets us run both a staffing and a contingent recruiting model without either one feeling like a bait-and-switch.

We also make sure the developers we place are covered with private health insurance, life insurance, PTO, financial guidance for managing USD income, and local HR support for the life of the engagement. The client pays for it as part of the engagement, but we’re the ones who put it in place and make sure it’s actually delivered. We run engagement programs, welcome kits, and recognition initiatives, some co-branded with our clients, so the developer feels like a real member of the team rather than an outside contractor. That developer-first approach is what keeps retention high and gives our clients continuity.

Q: Any highlights about your latest announcement?

A: Yes, in August 2026 we were ranked No. 40 in Human Resources on the Inc. 5000, Inc. Magazine’s annual list of the fastest-growing private companies in the U.S. We placed No. 1,347 overall nationally, and were also recognized regionally, coming in No. 78 in the Miami–Fort Lauderdale metro area and No. 163 among Florida honorees. The ranking is based on 262% revenue growth over the past three years, well above the list’s median growth rate of 130%.

It means a lot to us because the HR category includes firms far larger than we are. Past Inc. 5000 honorees include names like Microsoft, Meta, Oracle, and fellow staffing firm BairesDev. As I put it when the ranking came out: it’s proof our model works. We keep growing because our clients grow with the talent we provide, and because those relationships are built to last.

Q: What can we expect from you in the next 6 months? What are your plans?

A: Over the next six months, we want to build on the visibility that comes with the Inc. 5000 recognition and use it to reach and help more small and midsize companies across the U.S., particularly technology-driven companies where access to the right talent can have a real impact on their ability to innovate and grow. At the same time, that growth allows us to create more great employment opportunities for talented professionals across Latin America. Our goal is not simply to increase the number of placements we make, but to build more of the long-term relationships that have gotten us here in the first place.

We are also continuing to invest heavily in how we use AI throughout our recruiting operation. We still believe recruiting is fundamentally a human service, and maintaining that human touch is essential. Talking to people, understanding their experience, motivations, expectations, and fit cannot simply be replaced by automation. What AI allows us to do is augment that work. We are already giving our recruiters AI-powered tools that help them analyze larger talent pools, understand candidates more deeply, and work more efficiently, and we are continuing to build and introduce more of those capabilities.

The objective is to help our team manage a greater number of open positions while maintaining a very high standard of quality, giving our clients strong candidate options faster while preserving the conversations, judgment, communication, and relationship-building that are essential to making the right hire.

Q: What is the best thing about your company that people might not know about?

A: Something people don’t usually realize is how much goes on behind the scenes to support our developers that has nothing to do with the client relationship at all: things like occupational health guidance, active break programs, and regular local HR check-ins. We built that layer because remote work can be isolating, and a developer who feels genuinely supported and stable is a developer who stays with a client for years rather than months. It doesn’t show up in a sales pitch, but it’s a big part of why our placements last.

On the numbers side, most people are also surprised to learn we maintain an active database of more than 10,000 applicants and 105,000 prospects across Latin America; it’s what lets us move quickly on both staffing and contingent searches that other firms would need weeks to source.

There’s also a validation layer on the recruitment side that clients rarely see. Identity verification isn’t unique to us (every serious agency does it), but ours combines multiple indicators with human review to confirm the candidate we’re sending is real and who they say they are. In remote hiring, where impersonation is a genuine risk, that’s what lets clients trust the person we hand off is a real, qualified match.
