Below is our recent interview with Laura Kinniburgh, the Founder & Lead Planner at Cherry Pop Events:

Q: Could you provide our readers with a brief introduction to your company?
A: Cherry Pop Events is a Southern California-based wedding and event planning company that blends vintage inspiration with modern business precision.
I’ve spent over 20 years in the events industry, starting in the events department for Sodexho Marriott, and moving up through, the most recently, events for Habitat for Humanity and YWCA affiliates. In that time, I’m continuously perfecting the art of seamless celebration – combining structured logistics, ethical business practices, and creativity to deliver events that don’t just look good, but run flawlessly.
At our core, we’re problem-solvers in pearls. Whether it’s a corporate gala, a milestone celebration, or a full-scale wedding, our mission is to deliver stress-free experiences that honor both our clients’ vision and our Code of Ethics: Professionalism, integrity, transparency, and respect – every time. Every event. Our brand may sparkle like a martini glass, but behind the glam is a rock-solid business built on strategy, service, and heart.

Q: What makes you the best choice? How are you unique?
A: What sets Cherry Pop Events apart isn’t just our aesthetic – it’s our approach.
We’ve developed a planning model that merges creativity with accountability. Our systems are built for efficiency, communication, and trust, because every event is essentially a live production. Our clients deserve a director who can keep the show running without breaking a sweat.
We pride ourselves on clear communication, data-driven planning tools, and our “no surprises” policy. Clients always know what’s happening, when, and why. That transparency builds confidence and eliminates chaos; that’s where true peace of mind comes from.
And while our vintage flair gives us personality, our professionalism gives us power. We don’t just plan; we manage risk, lead teams, and create order out of potential chaos with grace and grit. At Cherry Pop Events, logistics are our love language – and leadership is our superpower.
Q: Who is your ideal client and why?
A: Our ideal client is a visionary: someone who values creativity but also respects the process.
Most of our clients are professionals or entrepreneurs themselves. They’ve built successful lives, they know the value of expertise, and they want to work with a planner who runs a business like they do: with clarity, accountability, and a personal touch.
They’re the people who say, “We’ve done the planning, but we need a pro to execute it.” They’re decisive, collaborative, and want their event to reflect both personality and precision. We don’t just help clients celebrate milestones, we help them protect their investment, preserve their peace of mind, and enjoy every second.
Q: What can we expect from you in next 6 months? What are your plans?
A: We’re entering an exciting growth phase at Cherry Pop Events!
In the next six months, we’re expanding our Day-Of Coordination services, developing a streamlined digital client hub for real-time planning communication, and growing our preferred vendor network through new partnership standards that emphasize ethical collaboration and service excellence. In addition to that, we are expanding our Etsy store, “DIY Bride by CPE” to
We’ve also launched our ‘Atomic Love Challenge’ which is a creative community project that proves unforgettable weddings can be done beautifully and affordably, without compromising quality or values. The challenge started this October and follows Cherry Pop Events planning and executing a wedding for 75 in Southern California for $5,000.00. The challenge culminates with a live virtual event to be held October 2026, sharing the results, the how-tos, and the fun.
On the backend, we’re continuing to refine our internal processes through training – I’m a member of the Association of Bridal Consultants – sustainability efforts, and AI-assisted workflow systems to enhance efficiency and client experience. Innovation doesn’t just belong to tech companies, it belongs to every business that values better systems, smarter solutions, and genuine service.

Q: What is the best thing about your company that people might not know about?
A: People often see the red lipstick and retro branding and assume we’re all fun and flair – and we are – but underneath that cherry-red polish is a company built on ethics, structure, and leadership.
Our Code of Ethics guides every decision we make. And we are very transparent about that, even posting it on our website for all potential clients to see. We’re selective about vendors and partnerships because integrity matters. We train our team not just in design and logistics, but in accountability, client communication, and empathy.
We also operate with a ‘people-first’ philosophy, meaning we treat clients, vendors, and staff with respect and transparency. Always.
The best-kept secret about Cherry Pop Events is: We’re not just planning parties. We’re building trust, community, and a legacy of excellence that makes every event (and every client) part of our story. Our mission isn’t just to celebrate beautiful moments; it’s to build a business that embodies reliability, respect, and radiant results.
