Q: Marcus tell us what is SwitchBoard and how does it work?
A: Switchboard is an office automation service. It automatically connects you to any conference call. Switchboard just calls and connects you to the bridge number, right on time.
It works a-la TripIt. You just forward the invite which contains the conference call you need to join, and we parse it, extract all the information that is needed, and call you when you need to be connected. No need to struggle to find the conference call number (should you use the international number or not?), the pin code (where is it? How can I find it? Has it changed since last time?).
Q: How long did it take to put together SwitchBoard?
A: I’m honestly still working on it. It’s probably going to take a good 2 months to get a first version working, but there is a lot more value to build around office automation. With the workforce going global, and even the local employees working remote, there are going to be more and more needs for tool that helps us communicate in a more efficient way.
Q: What inspired you to start working on SwitchBoard?
Near death experience while dialing in a conference call during my morning commute. I’m almost serious here. I am always struggling while joining calls on the go, especially when I’m driving. I convinced myself there had to be a better way. THERE IS!
Q: What is your main goal at the moment?
Provide a valuable service to hundreds of professionals in the next couple of months. I’ll be satisfied with that, but will upgrade my goal very quickly if I achieve this.
