Below is our recent interview with Mike Harry, Co-Founder of Oval Digital startup behind OVAL:
Q: How long have you been working on OVAL and where did the idea come from?
A: OVAL has been in development for the past 10 months. The idea for OVAL was conceived by our CEO, Rich Cosgrove, who originally envisioned a device that could monitor unauthorized access by teens to liquor and medicine cabinets and help bring awareness to substance abuse.
After teaming up with German engineer Lars Gerd Piwkowski, OVAL technology evolved from just monitoring changes in motion to also being able to detect any change in light, moisture, temperature, acceleration or proximity –sending an alert to your phone or email anywhere in the world – instantly.
Finally, they teamed up with Manhattan executive producer Mike Harry who visually developed the OVAL brand to ready the product for market.
Q: What we can expect from Oval Digital in the future? What are your plans?
A: Welcome to Internet 3.0! Sensor technology is the next big thing and the timing couldn’t be better for OVAL technology! Internet 1.0 was about connecting computers to each other, Internet 2.0 connected people to people through social networks, and Internet 3.0, the internet of things, or “IoT,” era will connect the rest of the world to the net.
OVAL Digital’s vision is to create the largest global IoT network, a bridge between people, things and the Internet. We invite you to be part of this amazing venture and join our OVAL family.
We are inviting software developers to come up with new ways for OVAL sensors to work with other connected devices inside and outside the home. We help you leverage what OVAL can do. OVAL is giving you the tools you need to integrate and build outstanding products and applications.
Our API servers communicate with OVAL in real-time. Get access to all your OVAL sensors’ environmental data, like motion, acceleration, temperature, luminosity, moisture and proximity. Enable and disable alarm functions; set individual thresholds to fire a message in case of an event. We also plan to integrate with IFTTT to create individual recipes.
We’ll use the industry standards OAuth2.0 and SSL for authorization and authentication, supply an API documentation, code samples and testing tools to start coding quickly.
Q: What is your message to OVAL supporters?
A: Our message to OVAL supporters is THANK YOU for believing in our company and our technology at this early stage. With your continued support, we’ll be able to further develop OVAL technology and introduce new hardware and software features as well as entirely new products.
Additionally, any lost object with an OVAL sensor attached can be picked up by another OVAL user – sending you a notification every step of the way. As more people setup OVALS in their home or business, our network will grow as well. In time, the thought of losing pets, bikes, cars, or other objects ever again will become a distant memory!
