Listen to this article

Keeper is the world’s most downloaded password security application for storing, accessing and safeguarding passwords and personal information. Below is our recent interview with Darren Guccione, CEO and Co-Founder of Keeper:

Darren-GuccioneQ: For those who have never heard of it, how would you describe Keeper?

A: Keeper is a secure and easy-to-use password manager and digital vault that runs on all major Smartphones, Tablets and Computers – covering iPhone, iPad, Android, Windows Phone, Mac, PC, BlackBerry and Kindle. Keeper is published in 16 languages covering over 80 countries worldwide. Confidential login credentials and sensitive files, photos and videos are stored in one secure, encrypted vault allowing easy access and sharing.

With over 50,000 5-star reviews in the app stores, Keeper has one of the highest product rankings by consumers. More than 5 million users worldwide trust Keeper to manage their passwords and help them quickly and securely access their websites.

Q: What was the inspiration behind building Keeper and who is your ideal customer?

A: I came up with the idea with Keeper’s current CTO Craig Lurey while flying to China in late 2008. The iPhone was out, and I saw the opportunity in mobile because there were no password-management solutions,” he said. “We built the first version by the time we flew back. We published the first version free in the App store and achieved immediate traction.”

Keeper’s ideal customer ranges from consumers, who usually have about 90 passwords, to business customers that implement Keeper to manage passwords and securely store confidential passwords, files, photos and videos.

Q: What are the biggest benefits of using Keeper for Groups?

A: Keeper for Groups is a multi-user version of Keeper that was designed for organizations. We launched this product last August and have over 3,500 customers. Keeper for Groups allows users within an organization to securely store, organize and share Keeper records with other users – from vault to vault. It has a world-class sharing platform for passwords and files across all device types and operating systems.

Customers who purchase Keeper for Groups are also provided an extra layer of control over their users and devices. We offer an Enterprise Bridge with full Active Directory / LDAP integration. This allows a larger organization, with thousands of employees, to quickly and easily deploy Keeper to its users. Keeper for Groups includes an intuitive admin console allows the Group Admin to manage their group’s users, devices and account settings.

Q: How would you convince the reader to start using Keeper?

A: Keeper is the most secure and easy-to-use password manager and digital vault on the market. Keeper utilizes several security protocols including, without limitation, the following:

  • Encrypted cloud backups
  • 256-bit AES encryption
  • Advanced threat detection
  • Self-destruct protection
  • Perfect Forward Secrecy
  • Two-Factor Authentication

With Keeper, only the user has access. That’s because Keeper uses military-grade encryption and world class security protocols. We aren’t just passionate about cyber security – we are fanatical about it. Keeper was created to serve two customer needs: convenience and security. Security is the nucleus of our product. Even better, Keeper is fast and easy to use.

Keeper is certified as SOC 2 Type 1 compliant in accordance with the AICPA Service Organization Control framework. SOC2 certification helps ensure that all users’ data is kept secure through the implementation of standardized controls as defined in the AICPA Trust Service Principles framework.

Every day, Keeper is tested by McAfee Secure to ensure that the web application and Cloud Security Vault are secure from known remote exploits, vulnerabilities and denial-of-service attacks. In addition, a comprehensive external security scan is conducted monthly on the Keeper website, Keeper web application, and Keeper Cloud Security Vault by Trustwave. Keeper staff periodically initiate on-demand external scans through Trustwave.
